We don’t live in a phony “insta life” (that’s in reference to instagram for the older folks). This is reality. This is real life. And in the Bible, it shows us the life of others, warts in all – filled with sickening failures that we all hope to avoid.

I think we’d rather see our heroes in a more pleasant light. We only want to see the pretty. But thats not reality.

Reality is, that God came to rescue us because we NEED rescuing, not because we were deserving heroes without painful and ugly chapters in our lives. God is making a point to all of us through Jacob’s life. Is it loud and clear? God saves undeserving men and women because He loves them and they need Him. And in the end, through it all, He will reap the glory, despite our depravity.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
